Who am I?

I feel pretty self-conscious about starting this website/blog. My name is Jon Green but it’s not going to be mainly about me.  I want it to be about cycling for ordinary, not particularly talented, folk who do it, above all, for the simple joy of it. My wife, Claire, and I have been keen cyclists for about 35 years.  We’ve done a lot and people have often said we should write a guide and share our experiences.

So…what have we done…?

  • Cycletouring & camping (bikepacking)

    • UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland.

  • Fixed center cycling with, and without, our children

    • France, Italy, Austria, Spain, UK

  • More touring/bikepacking

    • Wales, Spain, Scotland

  • Mountain biking in the UK and abroad

    • Polaris Challenge in the 90s, Scotland, Yorkshire Dales, Spain

  • That has morphed into gravel biking recently

    • Spain, Scotland, Wales

  • And many miles on the road: from 50km on fixed in our local Cheshire lanes to 120km rides in the hills and mountains from the Peak to the Pyrenees.

We’re not racers - Claire has done a few local hillclimbs but that’s it.
